I'm flying alone in two weeks on AirTran. I am 13 years of age.?
I've researched the AirTran website, to find that the UM (Unaccompanied Minor) program is for children from the ages (5-12) It also states: A child twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of age is not required to travel as an unaccompanied minor. However, AirTran will accept children in this age category as unaccompanied minors upon request. Their itinerary may include a connecting flight, provided the connecting flight is not the last flight of the day to their destination. This means I am flying as an adult, correct? I can have connecting flights? I am flying from DAY (Dayton International) to DFW (Dallas Fort Worth). I have a connecting flight at Atlanta. Only 37 minutes to get to my new gate. Do you think the gate will be close-by? If not, do you have any tips on getting there on time? I'm very worried, I don't want to miss my flights. Please help! Air Travel - 2 Answers

Oh my, thats crazy, i almost had the EXACT same flight, through Air Tran and everything. we had the layover in atlanta (ATL) from DFW to D.C. you will DEFFINATLY make it in time, we got there with a 45 minute layover with time to spare, AFTER eating and going to the smoke room, TWICE. lol. ATL is big, but the gates are in the same area, just look for the signs to help you to your gate. Hope your flights good.

You should be fine, and yes- you are allowed the same privileges as an adult. BUT- Amber is incorrect in saying you WILL make the connection. Airtran uses two terminals, so all the gates arent exactly in the same area. If your late at all, there could be probems. (Remember they close the gate 10-15 minutes before the flight is to leave so basically you only have 20 minutes time to get from gate to gate. But I wouldnt worry, you should be fine- just check to make sure your gate hasnt changed for the connection since Atlanta is famous for that and dont lolly gag- NO stopping for lunch etc, skip the bathroom until you get close to the new gate and know your fine on time. They wont wait for you if your late.
