About traveling suggestions

Traveling suggestions?? Anyone? (from Texas)?
Me, my boyfriend, his cousin and his girlfriend are trying to find a great place to travel to. We want to take a road trip, but we only want to drive for ten hours or so.. from Fort Worth, TX. We need to find a place that has descent scenery and also modern activities. We have varied personalities, so we would like an area that has a little of both worlds. If you have any suggestions please help us out.. Can't wait! I forgot to be more specific... Those are great places, and I would know because we have all been to Austin and San Antonio many times. We are looking for places out of state.. and the ten hour limit isn't set in stone.. we could drive longer, we just don't want to go too far! lol Thank you though! Any other suggestions?

Well a time honored tradition is to go tubing down the Brazos. This is the time of year to do it too. But 10 hours from Fort Worth can get you to Mexico( I don't suggest you visit a border town). So that is a VERY large area. Basically it depends on what you like. 4th street in Austin. River Walk in San Antonio Galveston Beach For that matter there is Sundance Square in Fort Worth. You could go crystal hunting in Arkansas. You could drive to New Orleans. You could Go rent a boat on Toledo Bend. Really it depends on what you like to do.

If you're willing to drive 12 1/2 hours go to Canon City, Colorado. It's in the Arkansas River valley, next to the Rocky Mountains and at the mouth of the Royal Gorge. You can take the Royal Gorge 24 mile round trip train ride through spectacular scenery. Walk across the Royal Gorge Bridge 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River - it's the highest suspension bridge in the US. Ride the Sky Coaster as you swing over the Royal Gorge. Go whitewater rafting. Visit the free Tasting Room at Holy Cross Abbey Winery, and if you have time tour the winery. McClellan's Brew Pub is fun. If you want a high end dinner go to Le Petite Chablis for French food. Have fun!

I know a number of folks that have enjoyed going north to Oklahoma, both the cities and the lakes. It is usually cooler than here in the wooded hills and they have more to do than just casinos
